Council Member Spencer Carlstone, Ward 3

Council Member Carlstone

Council Member Carlstone is serving in his first term on the Pella City Council representing Ward 3.

In 2006, Council Member Carlstone relocated to Pella from Texas. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from Baylor University in addition to his medical doctorate from the University of Iowa. Currently, Council Member Carlstone practices full spectrum family medicine at Pella Regional Health Center (PRHC). In addition, he has served in several leadership roles at PRHC and Iowa Academy of Family Physicians. Presently, he is also an adjunct clinical professor University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. In addition to his medical practice, Council Member Carlstone is a small business owner within the City of Pella.

Spencer's current term expires December 31, 2025.

Family

Council Member Carlstone and his wife, Amanda, have seven children: Callie, Tatum, Lindley, Amelia, Sibley, Palmer, and Campbell. His hobbies and interests include spending time with his family, playing music, dreaming, running, or reading.

Goals

Council Member Carlstone believes that Pella is an extraordinary place to live, work, play, and visit with a rich heritage; thriving industries and small businesses; high quality healthcare and educational institutions; and innovative, caring, and generous people.

His goals during his term include facilitating a city governance that expands on these attributes by representing his neighbors and responding to current and future needs with creative solutions.
