Mobile Hotspots

Pella Public Library is pleased to introduce Mobile Hotpots!  Check out one of these devices to take the Internet with you, anywhere! The Mobile Hotspot connects to cell phone towers to receive Internet via a data connection, and sets up a local WiFi network so you can connect your devices to it.

No, seriously... you're checking out the Internet?

Yes! The service is provided by the Pella Public Library on the Verizon network.

Ok, how does it work?

Simply stop in to the Pella Public Library and ask to check out a Mobile Hotspot.  You may also place a hold for a Hotspot online and, if there is one available, we will have it ready for you when you come (please allow 2 hours to pull the item in this case).  If there isn't one available you'll be placed on a waiting list.

How do I get Internet on my device (laptop, tablet, etc.)?

Simply turn the Hotspot on.  After a brief bootup sequence, the home screen will appear. Press the power button once to show the name of the WiFi network that you need to choose on your device to connect to the Hotspot.  Press the power button again to see the WiFi password that you need to use.  It's that simple!

Is there a fee or cost?

There is no cost to you, the patron. Pella Public Library pays for the Internet service on each device.

How much data do I get?

The data is unlimited, however the rate may be throttled based on usage.

How long can I have it?

7 days.  If no one is waiting for the Hotspot, you may call us or go online to renew it.

What's the catch?

There isn't one.  Check out a Mobile Hotspot today!
