Utility Billing - Payment Methods

The City bills for electric, water, sewer, and garbage/recycling services.  Bills are distributed on the last business day of the month and payments are due on the 20th of the following month.

Utility bill payment options:

In Person

Cash, check, debit and credit card payments are accepted at City Hall (825 Broadway Street) between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Drop Boxes

Three payment drop boxes are conveniently located at:

  • City Hall (825 Broadway Street)
  • Hy-Vee (118 SE 9th Street)
  • In the alley behind the library (603 Main Street)

ACH Withdrawal

Pay your utility bill automatically using CityMatic. Through this direct payment plan, your financial institution will deduct the billing amount from your account on the due date. To enroll, return this completed authorization form (PDF) to City Hall.

Online

An online payment system (Paymentus) is available for online payment of utility bills.  Online features include the capability to pay by credit/debit cards or e-checks; real time payment confirmation; current balance; past billing statements; and the ability to register for e-billing.  The system also offers a "Pay Now" feature that allows for quick payment without having to register an account.  Access the system online or dial 844.546.8162 to pay via phone.

Budget Billing

Residents may choose to put their account on budget payments.  It is recommended you live at the residence for 12 months before using budget billing.  Budget accounts are recalculated annually in the month of October.
