Code Enforcement

Reporting a Concern

The City of Pella has codes in place to keep our community safe and attractive for residents and visitors alike. If you have a concern, please contact Code Enforcement Officer Jared Parker at 641.628.0043 ext. 4. Jared handles such issues as sidewalks not being cleared of snow or ice within 24 hours, grass exceeding the 8-inch height limit, junk / junked vehicles, property maintenance concerns, etc.

Once contacted about a possible code violation the necessary steps will be taken to resolve the issue. Often, this involves a single phone call to the property owner with a friendly reminder. On occasion, issues may take longer to resolve due to foreclosures, absentee property owners, or other complications.

Providing Detailed Information

When you call to report a concern you will be asked to provide detailed information in writing via the Citizen Complaint Form (PDF). This will ensure that we have all the information needed to address the concern. If you are uncertain as to what constitutes a code violation, please feel free to contact our office at 641.628.0043 or refer to the City of Pella Code book chapters 50, 51, 145, and 156.
