Non-Resident Fees
The Pella residents make a significant contribution to the financing and operation of the Pella Community Services Department through city property taxes. These taxes are paid whether or not individuals participate in programs or use facilities. To ensure equality, non-residents (those living outside the city limits) will be charged a non-resident fee in addition to the program or facility fee.
Inclement Weather
On days of inclement weather, decisions to cancel classes or programs, both outdoors and indoors will be made one hour or earlier before starting time. Decisions about nighttime leagues or programs will be made between 4:00-4:30 p.m. Once the decision is made to cancel, the local radio stations will be notified and they will begin making the announcements. For the team/league programs, a league supervisor will contact the coaches/managers who will be responsible for notifying team members. Every attempt will be made to make up canceled dates, however this is not always possible. No refunds will be given for dates unable to be rescheduled. The Art Center and Activity Center will not meet if school is dismissed early or canceled.
The local media will announce Aquatic, Library and Community Center program cancellations.
Make-up for aquatic programs will be announced prior to the end of each session.
If make-ups cannot be scheduled, a credit will be given towards the next session.
Following is a list of the Pella radio stations that will be used for making announcements:
| KCWN 99.9 FM |
KNIA 1320 AM |
KRLS 92.1 FM |
Registration
Each Department has its own registration procedure
and this information will be published in local publication, as well as handed out
at the schools, giving locations, times, dates and costs.
For those programs or classes that have a maximum number of participants, registration
will be on a first come first serve basis with extra names being added to a waiting
list.
Program Attendance
Attendance is not required for programs sponsored by the Community Services Department. This allows for the kids to participate in other activities that may be scheduled at the same time. Proper courtesy reminds you to call your coach or instructor if a child is going to miss a practice or game.
Lost and Found
If you lost it, we may have it. Swimming pools, Community Center and the Community Services Office keep items that are left behind after everyone goes home. If you feel you or your child has misplaced something, please give either the pool (628-1882) or the Recreation Office (628-4571) a call to describe your lost item.
Schedule Changes
The schedules for all youth programs may change depending on the number of participants enrolled. Any changes of dates, times or location will be published as soon as registration for that particular program closes. |
