Capstone Behavioral Healthcare Inc.
Capstone Behavioral Healthcare provides outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment services to residents of Jasper and Marion Counties. Treatment services include individual, family and group therapy as well as psychiatric care provided to children, adolescents and adults. Crises services are available 24 hours per day.

Substance Abuse/Chemical Dependency Services are: available at all three locations, focused on assessment and treatment to those who experience problems which result from substance abuse or chemical dependency, provided by trained and approved professionals and licensed by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Capstone Behovioral Healthcare's Mental Health Services are: available in the Newton and Knoxville office locations, focused on the needs of the individual or family involved in treatment, provided by licensed professionals trained in psychiatry, psychology, social work and counseling and accredited by the Iowa Department of Human Services.

Capstone Behavioral Healthcare accepts most health insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. For those who qualify, fees are based on family income and number of family dependents.

Health Builders Club
Health Builders Club is a club open to men and women over 50 years of age to get together to play cards, pool, board games, socialize and enjoy coffee time. They meet in Room #307 on the third floor in the Community Center. Thursday is Ladies' Day.

Crossroads of Pella
Crossroads of Pella, located on the third floor of the Community Center, is a non-profit human service organization. With over twenty years of service to the community, Crossroads provides free counseling and operates as the first call fo help, information and referral. Services include crisis intervention, mediation, illness support services, short-term psychotherapy, and emergency financial assistance. Crossroads also provides programming developed to fill needs in our community. Crossroads programs include: SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program), Holiday Adopt-a-Family Project, Toy Shelf and sexual abstinence education through EMPOWER. PTV 12
This public access cable channel is the property of the City of Pella and governed by an advisory board. Scheduled programming includes City Council meeting at 1:00 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., Central College Sports at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, First Reformed Church services at 9:00 am on Sundays, Second Reformed Church services at 1:00 p.m. on Sundays, and United Methodist Church services on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. Various other programs are shown from time to time with approval of the adivsory board. Public service announcements broadcast over channel 12 may be submitted faxing 641-620-0011 or by e-mail to bross@cityofpella.com.

Hope
HOPE Inc. (Home Opportunities of Pella) a non-profit volunteer-based organization focused on dealing with low-income housing concerns and initiatives within our community. HOPe provides household related financial assistance to individuals within the Pella School District. Assistance is provided through Crossroads of Pella. Crossroads is able to provide additional assistance in the area of financial planning and referral for additional help. Contact Crossroads at 628-1212 for more information.


Golden Service Van
The service is generally for citizens 65 years and older; however service will be open to all who request service. The van operates Monday thru Friday by appointment only from 9:00-11:30 and 12:15 -3:30. Please call the Community Services Office at 628-4571 to make arrangements. Rides are $.50 for each one-way ride.


Pre-School
Crossroads of Pella supervises a Pre-School program available to children who are four years old by September 15 and will be enrolling in kindergarten the following calendar year. Two state-certified teachers staff this 20-plus-year-old program.

The program provides a wholesome educational experience with which to develop the physical, social and emotional growth of each child.

Two classes are scheduled with each class meeting twice a week, either on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. There is a maximum of 15 students per class. Each class is scheduled to meet from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. This is a 31-week program starting early September and ending in April of the following year.

5K/10K Klompen Classic
Pella's Tulip time 5K/10K walk/run takes place on the Wednesday of Tulip Time weekend. This year's race is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on May 5th. Both the 5K and 10K race routes highlight beautifully landscaped parks and historical features of the community. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age division. Overall race champions receive the coveted hand-painted wooden shoe award. This year, we celebrate our 11th Annual Klompen Classic and will once again offer a kids classic at 6:00 p.m. for children 10 and under.

Prevention Concepts
Prevention Concepts, Inc. is a comprehensive prevention agency. Our mission is to be proactive in the promation of healthy choices while strengthening Central Iowa communities through collaboration. Prevention Concept's team members provide the following programs in Marion County: Al's Pals: Kids Making Healthy, Choices, Hawkeye Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Teen Parent Program, Girls Circle, Prenatal Chemical Exposure to Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs, Parents as Teachers and other programs addressing alcohol, tabacco and drug prevention. Parents as Teachers for Madison, Marion and Warren Counties is an early learning program for parents with children birth to kindergarten entry. Parents as Teachers believes that parents are their child's first and most important teacher. PAT provides personal visits, group meetings, screening and resource and referral information to any parent residing in Marion County. Three part-time Parent Educators serve Marion County by appointment. To learn more about Parents as Teachers or to enroll, please call 1-886-962-1020.

Please note: The office at the Pella Community Center is not staffed on a regular basis. It is a work place for Parent Educators and Prevention Concepts staff and does not operate as a traditional office. Tulip City Golden Agers
Tulip City Golden Agers is an advocacy group for senior citizens that meets every other month at 10:30 a.m. It consists of a board of seven including a secretary and treasurer. This group pays rent for the dining room, lounge and two storage rooms. They sub-rent for parties, etc., to help with some needs in the dining room or kitchen. A membership of $5.00 from individuals who eat also helps with expenses. For rentals contact Stella Meulpolder at (641) 628-2350.

Pella Senior Meal Programs
On the 2nd floor of the Community Center is a kitchen and dining room. Monday through Friday senior citizens of the Pella area meet here for dinner at 11:30 a.m. Many seniors come early for a variety of activities and speakers that are available at 11:00 a.m. The Home Delivered Meals program is coordinated through the Senior Meal site. Meals are delivered by volunteers who work through the Pella churches. Any person over the age of 60 is welcome to join the seniors for a nutritious meal. There is a small donation requested for the meal. For reservations or more information please call the site manager at 628-4273.

The dining room is available for rent from the Tulip City Golden Agers. The cost is $30.00 for the first two hours and $6.00 for each additional hour after that. The lounge on the 2nd floor is also available for rent. The cost is $6.00 per hour with a maximum of $25.00. To rent either of these facilities contact Stella Meulpolder at 628-2350.

The Iowa Department of Transportation
The Iowa Department of Transportation provides four main services: (1) issue or renew first time licenses, non-driver ID cards, permits and duplicates (2) provide knowledge and skills testing required for licensing (3) provide applications for and issue handicap permits (4) register for or update your voter registration card.

The Iowa Department of Transportation is located on the second floor of the Community Center in Room 201. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month. Phone number when here is 628-1695.

The Clothing Bank
The Clothing Bank provides free second-hand and reduced priced clothing to all economic levels. Price range up to $3.00, with some items free of charge. Seasonal items are usually available during their appropriate time of year. Clothing and monetary donations are gladly welcomed; unsold clothing is donated to missions in the Des Moines area.

The Clothing Bank is located on the first floor of the west side of the Community Center. Office hours are Tuesday 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday and Friday 1:00-4:00 p.m. Contact volunteers Abe, Neva or Ruth @ 628-9635 during the above hours.
